Why Does Spending Time in the Sun Make You Want to Sleep? | SELF

For your consideration…

We love sunlight. We crave it. There is a good reason for that. Like most all living things our body needs the sun’s light. It provides vitamin D that we need for healthy bones. Research is showing that vitamin D helps our body fight disease, reduces depression, etc. We just feel better when we are getting plenty of sunshine.

Our message today uses that example for our soul, our spirit. Our spirit needs light at well…for all of the same reasons and more. We need a healthy spirit to be healthy and grow.

How do we ensure that our spirit is getting light? We let go of what we can not control to reduce stress. We remember to be grateful. We spend time with those people and things we love. We laugh. We play. We cuddle. We sing and dance. We do all of those things that make our spirit sing.

When we are feeling down with a heavy spirit, we can change that around. We can look at all we have to be grateful for. We can pull out that memory that never fails to make us laugh. Laughing out loud is a sure-fire way to change our energy and flood our spirit with light.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Get plenty of light…for both the body and spirit.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Contractors to the house to HOPEfully fix our patio and basement.

-I think I have finally got our winter rental taken care of.

-Sunshine.

-My fall cooking classes have started. Of course, they are all on-line. The downside is we don’t get to taste the food. The upside is, it was fun and relaxing to sit on the front porch and watch the class.

-A good book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
