For your consideration…

I should not be surprised that turkey vultures showed up as today’s message. Indeed these two have been frequenting and flying over our yard for a few days now.

In Ted Andrew’s Animal-Speak there is quite a bit written about vultures. Vultures are members of the raptor family but they do not kill so it is unusual for people to associate them as birds of death. In reality they represent death and rebirth and new vision. They do not kill but they clean up the kill to limit the growth and spread of infections and bacterias. Receiving the vulture as our message is meant to inspire and reassure us during this quarantine.

As we work through the reducing and eliminating the Covid 19 virus, the vulture gives us many examples. One is to use what we have available to us. Use up the stuff we have already available to us. It reminds us to be resourceful and responsible.

The vulture is resourceful even when it flies. If we watch them, we see that they rarely flap their enormous wings. They may not be the most beautiful bird but they rival most others in the beauty of flight. They us the thermals and windborne updrafts which allows them to rarely have to flap their wings. They conserve their power using what is available to them. They remind us to not try to “power” through this quarantine but instead “go with the flow.”

The vulture is also a sign of rebirth. Vultures do not leave their nest for 3 months. So many people think that when we see vultures our rebirth or change is about 3 months away. We are well into our quarantine HOPEfully heading to the down side of. It may not be unrealistic to think of this as a 3 month adventure.

I’ll leave you with this from the book because I think it really sums up where we are at and where we are going.

In alchemy, the vulture was a symbol of sublimation, particularly because of its resemblance to the eagle. The vulture was considered a sign of confirmation of a new relationship between the volatile aspects of life and the fixed, the psychic energies and the cosmic forces. It was a promise that the suffering of the immediate was temporary and necessary for a higher purpose was at work, even if not understood at the time. It reflects that no matter how difficult the life conditions, rescue is as imminent in your life as was the rescue of Prometheus by Hercules.”

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Go with the flow using all the resources you have available.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A Zoom PJ Party with Dianne, Jody, Vicki and Julie.
