For your consideration…

I have to chuckle at how today’s message came in. I was reminded of a class I took this week at Sister Pie in Detroit. It was a class on making pie crust. Truly, so many myths and tips I have picked up over the years were smashed. HOPEfully I can now duplicate the pie crust on  my own. Yikes, I digress, talk about monkey mind. Anyway, during the class as we were kneading the dough…yes…I did say kneading, the instructor told us to pick up the scraggly pieces in the bowl and on the dough ball and incorporate them…not trim them.

Isn’t that a funny way for the message to come in. But it makes sense because when we talk about “trimming” this time of year it could mean adding special things. But today’s message is all about skimming down tasks. It is all about making our life easier. For example, incorporating tasks rather than adding them as one more task. Or making sure we have one list going rather than several. Or it is about keeping our calendar up to date and working off one calendar. Or it can be about reassessing and making sure the task needs to be done at all.

Our message today tells us it is worth the time…consider it an investment….to pause and think about what we need to do and trim the list down. Our trimming message is all about working smarter, not harder.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Take time to trim the tasks.

What made me smile yesterday…

-I picked Alex up from the airport and we went for breakfast.

-Got in a little nap.

-Dinner at Shewolf…fabulous.

-We went to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Handel’s Messiah performance.  A wonderful addition to the season.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
