For your consideration…

I love this Joseph Campbell quote and this pick so I used it. However, our message today is more specific and light-hearted than perhaps this quote.

Our message was exactly this, “What do you have to lose? Step out of your comfort zone. Try something new.”

You know I think this season sometimes is indicative of how we thing and act. For example, we stress out and spend a lot of time thinking of that perfect gift for someone. In our hearts we know that stress should not be a part of the holiday season but yet we do. Today’s message says, “Hey, don’t poo-poo those random ideas that pop into your head. Step out of the ordinary and take a chance on something out of the ordinary.”

I had a conversation with my sister this morning. We spent much of it about stepping out of the comfort zone at work and speaking up. We talked about how uncomfortable that can be. Most of us experience that at some time or another in the workplace. It is freeing when we find the courage to speak up in any situation.

How about those holiday traditions? Why not trying switching one up, adding a new one or deleting one altogether. Seems like we have had that message recently in another message. Why do we keep getting it? Hmmm, maybe because we are not paying attention and we need to?

We are asked to let go, let up, make room for what is new and exciting waiting for us.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Take a chance. Run with a new idea.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Did I forget to mention that we found a place in Alabama to rent for a month? Yeah, that makes me smile.

-A chill day.

-I started a new mystery.

-Bartending at our sportsman’s club for a Christmas party. The people were great and very generous with tips that go to children’s programs. And what a great way to really step into the holiday spirit.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
