For your consideration…

From birth, as babies, we yearn to be soothed. As parents we provide pacifiers. Some babies suck their thumb. Some rub the silk on a blanket. My youngest daughter had a stuffed stork that played music. She would rub the storks foot at the end of his long legs. We accept that babies need to be soothed. We help them to find ways to self-sooth.

Our message today tells us that we need self-soothing our entire lives. Of course, we are not going to go around sucking our thumbs. So we need to find other ways. If we do not already know what soothes us, we need to find things that do. Over eating or cravings are often unconscious ways we self-sooth. But our message today’s asks us to seek healthy and positive ways.

We are asked to spend some time and think about ways we can self-sooth. Perhaps it is with music, sitting by water and listening to its ebb and flow, reading, meditating, dimming lights and lighting candles, a bubble bath, hobbies like knitting or crocheting etc.

We need to decompress and unwind. Discover what that looks like for you and make time for it every single day.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Self-sooth.

What made me smile yesterday….

-A chill morning.

-Running errands and grocery shopping.

-Lunch with Ginger.

-Catching up with Alex.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
