For your consideration…

We are probably all familiar with the phrase, “If looks could kill…” Perhaps we have “the look.” Certainly, we have all been on the receiving end of one. I have joked many times this week how my husband will often give me that “mean look” while we are at the doctor. He never wants to go but he also would never argue with the doctor so I become the recipient of his frustration and “the look.”

We are reminded today that our looks matter. They affect the person we are looking at. What our face says is not necessarily what we are intending for it to say. We can be looking at someone while our mind is completely on something or someone else. The recipient of those thoughts end up being the person in front of us. We often do this with the wait staff in restaurants or other service industries. We sometimes speak without even looking at them at all or we “look through them” instead of at them in one on one conversation.

Each person is important. Each person that crosses our path is important. It is up to us to make that interaction kind, encouraging and loving.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Look at people with the intention you mean for them to receive.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-A great brunch with my daughter, Shannon.

-Alex’s party was a hit. She was so uncertain of this one and it turned out perfect.

-I volunteered at our club serving at an event. I did not know until I got there that it was for my high school’s reunion. Different class but I still knew some of them.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
