For your consideration….

Back in the 1990’s John Gray wrote a popular book Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus. In a nutshell it described the differences on how men and women think and act. I think most of us would agree.

In my house it is always evident around kitchen cleanup and the putting away of dishes. My husband is always very proud of his performance in these areas. As a women I don’t want to hurt his feelings, so I agree. But in my head I am thinking, “Seriously, does he really think rinsed off and sitting in a sink versus the dishwasher is a completed job.? How are these dishes going to get washed? Doesn’t he think about that?” Or, when he unloads the dishwasher and leaves several things on the counter I think,”We have lived here for over 20 years. How can he not know where they go?” Or on the things he does put away I think, “Did he not learn as a child that big things go on the bottom and small things on top?”

Some of you I suspect think I am being petty and some probably know exactly what I mean and immediately have your own story. We can relate.

Our message today reminds us that we readily accept the differences between men and women. We make lots of allowances for it. Yet often we do not make the same allowances for those of the same-sex as us. Women are very judgmental of other women and our expectations of them often surpass those we have for men given the same circumstances. Men do the same with other men.

The reality is that each of has a feminine and masculine side.  We just don’t always notice it. We look a the outside package and judge accordingly. We are reminded today to suspend judgment. See things as they really are.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-See everyone as they really are.

What made me smile yesterday….

-A little rain but never at recess time. Is it wrong to look forward to recess just like the kiddos?

-A good night’s sleep.

-A good day for Alex speaking to high school students…..so proud of her.

-I put myself to bed at 8:00. I did not go to sleep right away but I did get a full night’s sleep.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
