For your consideration….

So much chaos is going on in the world. It is hard to shut it out and stay HOPEful. It is hard to shut out the rhetoric. We might ask where is all of this anger coming form? Or…what happened to sanity, courtesy, respect, tolerance, love and common sense? Why can’t we talk to one another?

Everything seems so out of control? But is it?

Yesterday in a mindfulness get-together one gentleman said in effect that he felt like a fish out of water. He knows what the world should be like so he does not understand why he is living in this life where everything is so opposite. We talked about how social media has changed everything. We no longer just get information and news for our community with whom we have much in common. Now we get everyone’s news, information and viewpoint. And everyone seems to have an opinion. We don’t often hear, “I don’t know enough or I need more information.”

Certainly it’s true that social media has had a major impact. However, I think there is more to it. My friends and I have often talked about our parents and their friends. None of us remember them having the conversations about spirituality, except in the context of their church. None of them meditated or even talked about the importance of silence. None of them had discussions like we had yesterday in meditation. In fact, I remember feeling very isolated when I was in my 20’s and started with some of these questions. However, over the years, some of my friends have started walking this path. Others may not walk it but are no longer uncomfortable when the big life questions come up. My own children and husband have open minds and once taboo subjects are openly, freely and comfortably part of everyday conversation.

I point this out because today we are asked to “notice.” It seems like everything has gone from bad to worse. But this is not true. That is a judgment. We are asked to not focus and judge all of the craziness and negativity and notice how far we have come. Our choice of how we are handling our differences is less than ideal but we at least we have noticed they are there.

Our message today tells us that “noticing” is the first step to “transcending.” You have to notice it so you can choose to transcend it. As lightworkers we are here to help the process. It may not seem like it. We may feel outnumbered but there are a lot more of us than their used to be. We are no longer isolated. We have friends and family who support us and even join us. We are here to hold the HOPE and light.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Hold the light and HOPE.

What made me smile yesterday….

-Mindfulness.

-Yeah, after 38 years Cathy and John tied the knot. I could not be happier.

-Seeing Mackenzie and Ellie.

-Catching up with Jackie.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
