“If you’re climbing the ladder of life, you go rung by rung, one step at a time.

Don’t look too far up, set your goals high but take one step at a time.

Sometimes you don’t think you’re progressing until you step back

and see how far you’ve gone.”

Donny Osmond

For your consideration….

I had a bit of a time pulling today’s message in. As I meditated and asked for clarity, I was reminded of  an incident that happened when my youngest daughter, Alex, was very small. She was six years old and a swimmer. The end of the pool that had the starting blocks had a “hill” in it. Of course, this was to make the pool deep enough for diving. It also had a window in the side of the pool at the deep end. The older kids used to tell the younger ones that they could open that window and let sharks in the pool. Alex believed them.

Alex said, “Mom I’m afraid to dive in the deep end because I am afraid of the hill.”

I gave her some sage advice, “Tell Bonnie (the coach) you are afraid.” A couple of days later, I could tell she was still afraid.

“Did you tell Bonnie you were afraid?”

“Yes, she said the hill is at the bottom of the pool and I was swimming on top. Get in.”

Yikes. Harsh? Maybe, but she got in and overcame her fear and accomplished her goals, stroke by stroke.

Our message today tells us that no matter how high the goal or how far the distance, we get there step by step, rung by rung, stroke by stroke. Nothing is impossible. No task is too high for us. We overcome bit by bit, piece by piece.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…..

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Be confident and take it one step at a time.

What made me smile yesterday….

-The end of the school day. I subbed in a new class. Yikes. They were tough.

-Another beautiful, picture perfect weather day.

-Talking to Alex.

-A good book and early bedtime.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
