For your consideration…….

Today’s message is about belief in self. Do we or don’t we? Do we or don’t we trust that we know right from wrong? Do we or don’t we have the conviction to stand up for it? Do we or don’t we believe we can do our part to change the world?

If we listen to the news, it is mostly politics. If we listen more closely, we hear the people who “spin” it. News is no longer just news. There is a whole industry set up to find out how people think and what they care about so that they can create a dialog that is a satisfactory “sell”…..not necessarily the truth and certainly not the whole truth.

The thing is we know this. How many times have we heard a major issue come up only to have it silently go away? We may wonder what happened but we don’t demand to know. We don’t demand change. We do not withhold support.

We are given the example of politics because it is easy. It is an easy example. What is not so easy to see is how women are “handled”. Women represent 50% of the world’s population. Do we affect 50% of the decisions made? Why not?

Women are pandered to solicit support. Marketing to women is key because they influence the major decision-making in retail sales. Women are pandered to in elections because they are 50% of the population. Yet women can not get their world concerns handled. How can this be?

The truth is there is no political party that is 100% right. They would have us believe that we can not do without them. Easy for them to say because the minute they do not do what we expect them to do they readily blame the other party. Really? Ladies, isn’t this getting old. For those of us who have had kids or been managers anywhere, surely we recognize the blame game. Mom’s shut that down real fast between they kids.

Women know how to do that. We know how to say “stop it.” This is not acceptable. I want the truth. I demand the truth. And if we don’t get it, there will be real consequences. Real women don’t forget. Real women do not sweep things under the rug, they get it fixed. Real women are not bullied into letting a political party, organization, company or even family and friends into making decisions for them. They never hand their power over. They do the work and follow what they know is right.

The truth is we can affect world change in our home, in our community, in our state, in our country and in our world. Do we want to? Or don’t we? If we don’t, we have no right to complain. It is time to put up or shut up.

So the question put to us today is “Do we?”

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…….
