For your consideration…..

Today is about choices. Specifically it is about giving advice or providing witness. We are all asked for help or our opinion and for most of us the natural state of our being is that we want to oblige.

Today cautions us about making the right choice. If we are an expert, if we are knowledgable, if our heart is clear on the issue then by all means we should avail ourselves. We should be of service. We should help when we can.

The choice….the problem……..is  when we want to be of help. We want to help alleviate fear, pain or anxiety but we are not an expert. Perhaps we just don’t know what to do. Our heart,  head or both are  not clear. We really don’t have a solution, answer or suggestion.

Today we are reminded that we need to make the wise choice even if it is uncomfortable. We need to be supportive without rendering our opinion. That can be hard but if we take a step back and put ourselves in the shoes of the troubled one or think back to a time when we really needed sound advice, we can see the choice clearly. We would never want someone to render help just for the sake of helping. We would never want shaky advice. We would never want flawed opinion. We would never want to hear anything untrue .

We want to be of service. We want to help where we can.  However, we have to evaluate and decide if we have the valuable information the seeker needs. Perhaps we role is simply to walk away or stay and be a supportive shoulder. Only we can make that choice

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…….

-Meditate/pray……k now your strengths.

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Revisit your vision board. HOPEfully you do that every day but perhaps it is time to adjust i. Or maybe you need to create one.

What made me smile yesterday…..

-Snorkeling in Roatan at my favorite snorkeling beach in all of the world. I love swimming with the fish especially when they let you become part of their school.

-A perfect weather day.

-Meeting new friends.

-I lost at the casino but Bruce won and was so excited to come back with $40 extra.

-Lesson reminder….I learned the hard way. Before snorkeling my attention was drawn to my watch and I was given the thought to take it off. I never do that so I ignored the message and sure enough I lost my watch. It wasn’t that it was particularly expensive or that I don’t have another one that bothered me. It was that it was my favorite of all time and I ignored the message that bothered me.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
