Bridge of HOPE

Josephine Wall

For your consideration…..

Yesterday we talked about leaving seeds of ourselves behind. Today is much more specific. Our message today is exactly this, “Charity without leaving HOPE is a missed opportunity.”

Charity freely given and received is always a gift. But without leaving that bridge to HOPE we have given half of the gift. It is like giving a gift we have not taken the time to wrap. It is addressing the physical need but not the spiritual need.

Probably all of us has heard this Chinese proverb:

“If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day.

If you teach a man to fish you feed him for a lifetime.”

HOPE puts power and control back into the recipient’s hands. It plants the seed of choice. It plants the seed of possibility.

Next to absence of love, absence of HOPE is the worse thing that can happen to a human being. Giving charity without leaving HOPE is a glass half empty.

Again it is a two-way street. Effective charity is freely given from the heart and accepted from the heart both from a state of gratitude. The true Blessing is when the gift is wrapped in HOPE.

We have a choice. We always have a choice. Choose to leave seeds of HOPE.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take……

-Meditate/pray. Ask your authentic self where you need to go and what you need to do.
-Drink lots of water.
-Take at least 10 deep breaths outdoors.
-Encourage someone.
What made me smile yesterday……
-A restful day at home.
-Lots of communication.
-Lots of rain ending in a day full of sunshine.
