For your consideration…

It is 8:30 pm and I was given this message this morning. It was brought in via something my daughter has said and something I don’t like to think about. But I know, I can not ignore a message. It will not go away until it is written just like songs that get stuck in your head.

My daughter and son-in-law are Navy aviators. She is a navigator and he a pilot. They say that one of the things that is drilled into them is that complacency kills. There is no routine. Every flight, every day, is different. Anything can happen. You must always be on the top of your game. You can see why I don’t like to think about that.

Our message today is about complacency and what it can do to us. Indeed, if we get too complacent with our health we can miss warnings and die. But our message is about all aspects of our lives. Our messages of late have been asking us to stay fully engaged in the moment, go with the flow, notice what is put in front of us, etc.

Google gives this definition of complacency….feeling so satisfied with your own abilities or situation that you feel you do not need to try any harder:

That is exactly what our messages are asking us not to do. When we are complacent we inhibit our ability to learn and grow. We miss opportunities that grow our knowledge, faith, skills and abilities, friendships, relationships, careers, Spirit, etc.

We are asked today to not let ourselves get comfortable with complacency. Reach for more. Search for more.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of the light.Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of al?”

-Don’t let ourselves become complacent.

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-A day trip to Port Huron with Alex. She had a military funeral to perform and I rode along to deep her company.

-Lunch at Nicky D’s dinner and dessert later at Saunders.

-Car washed and grocery shopping done.

-Ushering at Hill Auditorium.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
