For your consideration…

I love how today’s message came in. In it’s raw form it was, “reaching out versus reaching in.” It seemed a bit off. Many of our messages are about going within, leading, and acting from the truth of our authentic self. As I questioned, I was told that, of course, this is what we need to do and reaching out versus within is a step beyond.

I was reminded of my stay in Utila and something I noticed but had forgotten. Utila is one of the Bay Islands of Honduras. I love it there. Its language is Spanish. Of course, its sunshine is incredible and seas always warm. Many people come there to scuba dive, people of all ages from all over the world. Most motorized vehicles are scooters, motorcycles or modified motorcycles that are tuktuk (taxis), trucks. There are very few cars. Walking is the most common form of transportation. The streets are at maximum barely two lanes.

The thing about Utila that I was reminded about was how people treat one another. I remember noticing one day that everyone reaches out and tries to make the other person comfortable. They great you with your native language. In turn, people do the same for them.

Everyone is different. Some people are much more shy than others. Many of us are uncomfortable going someplace where we do not know other people. Most people I know do not want to travel alone. I even know people who will not go out to eat alone. The comfort level is just not there. But our message today asks us to consider reaching beyond our own comfort. Instead reach out and draw others in. Make them feel comfortable, interesting, and important. When we are focused on the well-being of them versus ourselves, they can see and feel our light. Very quickly the strangeness vanishes.

Reaching out with the love and light of our authentic self is always a win for the highest good of all.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of the light. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Reach out.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-I was going crazy for two days searching for a new travel bag I was given for my birthday. I knew I had brought it home. I remember working with it. I know where I should have put it. But it was not there. I searched and searched. Yesterday I woke up thinking perhaps I put it in another suitcase. Nope. Finally, yesterday afternoon I thought about my habits. I often put things in one area to take to the basement. Most often they are unrelated and go to different areas. I thought perhaps I had set it down while I put something else away. Sure enough. I had taken St. Patrick’s decoration down and set it down while I put them away. Instead of putting it away, I had picked up spring decorations to bring upstairs.

-Catching up with Mary and both my girls.

-A good book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
