For your consideration…

The ocean and sand are metafors for the moments and experiences of our life.

I laughed when this message came in. If only I had a dollar for every time a student asks why they have to learn something they are sure they are never going to use.

Then right after that I read a Facebook post from a niece. Her husband is my nephew who is a missionary in Bulgaria. They have been there for many years. Carrie is a talented writer and her posts very enlightening. The post I read today was how by the age of 15 she could cook, sew, can, balance a checkbook, and cook a full holiday dinner on her own. My mother grew up on a farm. Fortunately for her and unfortunately for her kids, she did not like any of in the “indoor” stuff. She liked working in the fields and barn better. But like many small towns we had 4-H. This is where I learned to sew, bake, can, and cook.

I am sure that Carrie like me had no concept that we were learning skills that we actually would use for the rest of our lives. They were small things at the time that gave us confidence to build on. Every new technique, every new recipe, every teacher, etc. added to the life experience  that have made us who we are today.

These stories remind us that each day, each moment, we add to our life story. Every day we are more than we were yesterday and less than we will be tomorrow.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE actions steps anyone can take..,.

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of the life. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

–Honor the moments.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A warm gentle rain.

-I found an Austrian herbologist.

-Beautiful temperatures…not too hot…not too cold.

-A good book.

-Catching up with Mary and Kathy.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
