Makapu Beach, Hawaii

For your consideration…

Don’t let the above photo fool you. Every time I think about undertows, I am reminded of when I was in my twenties and lived in Hawaii. One day I went with friends to Makapu Beach. As always in Hawaii, it was a beautiful day. It was a weekend and there were a lot of people on the beach. The children were all playing in the water. It was so inviting, I walked right in. I got in up to my ankles and suddenly my feet were swept out from under my and I was being dragged out. I couldn’t get up. I started clawing at the sand only to be thrown on the beach and drug out a couple of more times. My friends were laughing too hysterically to help me.

Today’s message uses undertows as an analogy for problems. We can let problems get stuck in our head. We give them a lot of our time and energy.

We are reminded that that problems are like undertows. We need to relax and go with their flow. There is already a fix in for every problem even though we can’t see it or don’t know what it is. We can fight it but it will not do us any good. It will only causes us more worry and anguish.

Relax. Go with the flow. It is all good. Everything will be fine. The fix already working its way to solution.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of light. Where ever you go there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Go with the flow.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-Some yard work done.

-A good writing day.

-Catching up with Shannon, Mary, and Jackie.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
