For your consideration…

We often have messages about change. Change involves stepping out of our comfort zone and taking chances. Growth is good. Growth is necessary. Our message today is about the flip side. It is about the “common thread.” The common thread is the habits, traditions, consistencies, routines, etc. that we do that bring us comfort.

It starts when we are babies. Our parents find ways to comfort us. They set up routines for us. They pass them along to our caregivers so that we feel safe when they are gone.

As we grow we discover things that do the same thing. We incorporate them into our lives. Here in this blog, we are reminded to get outdoors for some deep breaths each day. Often we are reminded that our breath goes with us everywhere. Whenever we need a reset, we can stop and take some deep breaths.

I choose the above picture because this is my comfort zone. I love to sit down and relax with a book, and cup of coffee, with paper and pen within reach. Walking is another thing I like to do. Some people like to jog. My Housecleaner says her happy place is from 8-10 every morning except Tuesday and Saturday at the gym.

As we spent the evening together wrapping gifts Saturday night, my friends and I talked about the things that our parents loved and hated to do during the holidays. Some things we do the same. Some we change up. Traditions are great because they link our past to our future. They are a way to bring our passed loved ones into our present. They are ways to honor them.

We all have that time and place where we can decompress and find comfort. It is those common threads that carry us through change and allow us to grow. They are good and necessary parts of our lives.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Relax with what makes us happy.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A trip to get my nails and toes done.

-Leftovers.

-Catching up with both my girls and Mary.

-A good book and lots of coffee.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
