For your consideration…

Finding a good picture to illustrate today’s message was harder than I thought. There are lots of images and quotes for motivation. There are programs teaching how to motivate. Marketing is centered around motivating people to buy or do something.

But that is not what today’s message is about. How many times have we said or heard someone say, “Why would someone ever do that?”..”What would possess them to do that?”…

Perhaps we hear or say this when someone breaks the law or does something truly horrific. Sometimes is it when people just do minor things that we can not phantom why. Or maybe they just make very different choices than we would.

Our message today reminds us that often we can not truly know what motivates people. AND we should not assume that we do. That actions we take or the words we choose when we “assume” often get us into trouble and/or exasperate the problem.

Trying to figure out what motivates people is good. Assuming we know, not so much.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Try to understand without judgment and assumption.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-Catching up with Jody, Cathy, and both my girls.

-Brunch at Kathleen’s. It was good to see her new setup for before and after-school care.

-I took a new recipe. It is a keeper.

-A good book. I am almost done with its series.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
