For your consideration…

I once read that the world’s problems could be solved with the two words personal responsibility. You can think on that for yourselves but I tend to think it is true. We try to focus on the positive in this blog. It is after all called HOPEs Rising. But for today’s message, we need to first consider what happens when we don’t take personal responsibility. I like this quote by John Stuart Mill;

But society has now fairly got the better of individuality; and the danger which threatens human nature is not the excel,

but the deficiency, of personal impulses and preferences.”

We can get tired, disillusioned, frightened, confused, even lazy. It is easy to let someone else take over. We believe the rhetoric because it is easier than having to step up, do the research, make our own decisions and act accordingly. While it is never alright to give up our personal power, it wouldn’t be as dangerous if so many people were not doing it. The danger is when society does it collectively. The danger comes in when society shuts down opinions and tries to take away their fellow man/woman’s personal responsibility.

The forefathers of America knew this. It is up to us to remember it.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Own your power. Take personal responsibility.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-A good book.

-Catching up with Cathy and Alex.

-Finally a good night’s snooze.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
