For your consideration…

The first thing I ever purchased for my youngest child upon learning I was pregnant was this stork. I bought it in the gift shop of Henry’s restaurant in Algonac, MI. I lived a few short blocks from there. The restaurant is no longer there after more than 50 years. My daughter, Alex, is over 30 and still has “Mr. Stork.” What you can’t see in this picture is that it has long legs and feet made of a soft low nap fleece. She liked to rub them as she put herself to sleep. She also has a baby afghan that a co-worker made her, “Purple,” that she did the same thing with. We often laugh at her that she still has these things on her bed. She is soon to have her first child and of course, I searched until I found baby McKinney his own “Mr. Stork.”

Today’s message came in via all of the above memories saying, “Whatever brings you comfort is perfect.”

We all need comfort. We all need to take care of ourselves. Our message today tells us that whatever that is that does it for us is never silly. It is perfect. Perhaps, we have something from our childhood. Perhaps we have a worry doll or stones we carry in our pocket. Perhaps it is a piece of cloth that we can rub. Perhaps it is our pet. Perhaps it is a stuffed animal. Perhaps it is that warm cup of coffee in your hands. Perhaps it is a favorite pair of beat-up PJ’s or a holey sweatshirt.

Whatever soothes US  is perfect. Seek it. Keep it close.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…”I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Seek what soothes us.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-Kathy came over and we made a cake. It is fun to bake and/or cook with friends.

-Catching up with Alex, James, Michelle, and Cathy.

-A productive trip to Dexter and then the grocery store and still made it back within my 2 hour window that I had Bruce’s sitter.

-A new book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
