Recycle the Runway will benefit Dress for Success | OurQuadCities

For your consideration…

I picked this image for the “attitude.” Based on the outfits, you could not tell where these women are going but each looks comfortable and ready to show off their stuff.

I laughed when today’s message came in. Only a couple of nights ago, we had company for dinner and we were talking about how we like to have dinner early now. Early dinner, early cleanup, and then into PJ’s to relax into the rest of the night. We can all relate. Women especially love to take off their bra the minute they get home. Or how about on the weekend after a hard work week? Don’t we love days where we can stay in our “slouchy” clothes?

That seems like the way it has been for all of my life. Then Covid hit. A side benefit of it was so many of us being able to work from home…in our PJ’s even. Or our slouchy clothes. Many of us laugh that we are like TV personalities and only dress for what the camera can see. We may put on a nice top and jewelry, comb our hair, put on some makeup but have sweats, shorts, or PJ’s on the bottom.

My Uncle Harold used to be a high school principal. Decades ago students were not allowed to where jeans to school. He fought the trend to change that. His thoughts were that lazy dress contributed to lazy minds and habits. I am not sure that is all true. Certainly, we have all manner of dress in public schools these days and many successful students…and not so successful.

Our message today asks us to be mindful of our thoughts and attitudes. Are we feeling lazy? Are we unproductive? Do we resist having to dress up? We have control. We can change that once we are aware. A good motivator is to dress for success. Dress for the life you want to live. Motivate yourself by making yourself feel accomplished by dressing the part. It may seem like a little thing but it is again, it is something we can do to move off of the spot we are stuck in.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Dress for success.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Having Alex home.

-Mac came over and spent the afternoon visiting with us.

-My puppy, Louie, is back to normal.

-Catching up with Shannon.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
