For your consideration…

It is a catch 22. We like normal…smooth paths…in our life. At the same time, we crave new, excitement, adventures. Sometimes those are direct odds with one another. Sometimes we are too comfortable to “rock the boat.”

I will share this very simple and small example that was shown to me as an example for today’s message. We built the house we live in about 25 years ago. Our master bedroom has 2 closets. Of course, I claimed the walk-in one for my own leaving my husband a good size large double-wide door closet. If I was hones, I never really like my walk-in closet. It was big but not functional. About 8 years ago, I bought a closet organizer. It sat there for 3 years until my brother came for a visit and installed it for me. I was happy. That is until I came home from school one day to find that one of the main rods had fallen. I was super tired and upset, a couple of other things had also happened that day. As I stewed, I remembered a handyman that I had used before. He is not fast but he comes quickly and does a good job. Plus, I just like him. I had a couple of other jobs I needed to be done as well so now I am thinking I can kill three birds with one stone.

That is the first part of our lesson. The disaster forced me to get off “home plate” and get them done. After, consulting and talking through ideas, Kevin and I came up with a plan that made my closet was better than it ever was. After 25 years, I absolutely love it..every day… every time I go into it, I love it. My disaster turned into a super blessing that I appreciate every day. There was a third bonus to my disaster. I cleaned out that closet which in turn for the benefit of good organization, forced me to clean out the two other closets in the hall leading to our bedroom.

That is a long story for a simple example but it absolutely is perfect for today’s message. Sometimes life gives us a disaster so we are forced to create space for something much bigger and better.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Look for…expect…blessings.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Ginger brought lunch by and stayed for a visit.

-Catching up with Dianne and Alex.

-Lots of household chores doen.

-A good book.

-An early bedtime. Ususally, I wake up in 6 hours so I don’t like to go to bed early. I did wake up at 3 am but I read for a while and was able to go back to sleep and finish out the night. Needless to say, I feel great today.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
