For your consideration…

So fun…so easy. Today we are given a task to get back to basics AND we are given a way to do that.

We are asked to pull back a bit and narrow our focus to the little things that add love, joy and HOPE to our lives; a smile, hug, flowers of the season blooming, a cup of coffee, a good book, a surprise gift, a phone call etc. We are asked to think about what, why and how those little things are able to positively affect us.

Why focus on them? Why are they important?

It is important that we know that it isn’t normally the major events that create our happiness. Those are just moments of time interspersed with life. They often propel us forward in a new time or stage of life. But the small things are what can truly make us happy because they are the constants. They are what is readily available to us.

You may notice that at the end of each blog there is a section “What made me smile yesterday.” If you have, you probably noticed that they are mostly minor little things like catching up with a friend or family member, a good book, a beautiful day. There may also be something about getting something done because that is always a relief especially if it was not something I really wanted to do. The point is that they are minor little things. They are things that I am grateful for.

Focusing on the minor things that bless us reminds us to be grateful. Gratitude in turn brings us more of the things that bring us joy and happiness.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Focus on the little things that bring so much too our lives.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day….sunshine, hot but not too hot, a gently breeze.

-Vicki, Jody and I went back to Belle Isle

-I can not remember the last time I went on a picnic. It was great to picnic along the river.

-Drinks in Greektown.

-I got the last bit of writing done I owned Beth for our DKG newsletter. Ahhh. I think I am caught up.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
