For your consideration….

Our message today reminds us we are mirrors. What we see in others is a reflection of ourselves. Therefore, we have to BE what we want to see. If we want peace, we have to be peace.

Therefore, we have to let go of anger, hate, disappointment and fear. We must let the wisdom, love, joy and HOPE of our authentic self lead our way.

Does that mean we don’t advocate against injustice or things know is wrong? No. But it does mean that we must examine ourselves. We have to know where our motives are coming from. Which of us is in charge and leading the way? Is it our ego or our authentic self? There is an easy way to tell. Do I feel love and peace when I am advocating or do I feel hurt, self-righteous, anger.

If it is the latter, then we are not advocating for peace. The change we want to see may be different from the present but at the same time it is the same if the ego’s anger is leading the way.

We are asked today to be a change agent for peace. We are asked to let the love, joy and peace of our authentic self lead the way.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

The Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
