For your consideration….

We hear a lot about entitlements, the entitled generation, people who feel entitled etc. I don’t know about you but the word(s) “entitled/entitlement” seems to be everywhere. It seems to have a life of its own. As a people we argue over what it means, what it should mean and even what it is because by definition it is someone’s right to something. When people feel entitled they feel they have a right to something.

Our message today is this. We have a right to pursue the opportunities put before us with the God-given gifts we have been given. We do not have the right to squander them away and expect that someone else pursue those opportunities and bestow upon us the rewards they have reaped.

Charity is toxic when we lead people to believe or promote their belief that they are entitled to rewards they have not reaped and do not deserve. Entitled charity is toxic because it is not a two-way street. While the giver may feel good about themselves, they have in essence stolen the receivers HOPE and belief in themselves and/or reenforced their attitude of entitlement.

We are asked to keep our charity clean. Do good not harm.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Keep your charity clean.

What made me smile yesterday….

-A beautiful day.

-A great dinner with friends before taking James and Alex to the airport.

-Lots of help, easy conversation.

-My friend, Jackie, got me through the send off stayed. It was a good visit.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
