Checking the Ego Out
For your consideration……
We have had messages before about the ego but it has been awhile. I love the timing of this message. Is there a better time than the beginning of the Christmas season?
Our ego likes to keep us separate. If we are whole, it is out of a job. Perhaps you have come across consultants or organizers who operate this same way.
The ego always likes to keep things unbalanced and out of sorts. The inflated ego is the same as the ego that depresses. The inflated ego paints a grandiose picture of us using props and attachments. On the flip side is the ego that tells us what we can’t do and all of the reasons why. It tells us what we can’t have. It paints a picture of us as not capable or worthy thus blocking our ability to dream and try.
The ego will try to block us from seeing and feeling our authentic self at every turn. It impairs our spirituality.
This season is a good time to check the ego out and get in the habit of checking in with our spirit. As we are in a season of giving and receiving, we can monitor our motives. If they are not from love and joy, they are from the ego.
As we volunteer for various charities, we need to examine our motive. Any good deed that comes from force, habit, self-service….done to make ourselves look or feel good etc., does as much harm as good. Everything carries energy and deeds done for negative reasons carries negative energy.
Our ego loves to set us up to be less than we can be but we are in charge. Our authentic self….our spiritual self…..will always trump the ego. The ego is no match for spirit. However, unlike the ego, spirit waits for us to ask it to step up. It waits to be called and recognized.
Let’s ask our ego to check out. We are fully capable of bigger and better things and we do not need its opinion or maneuvers.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take……
-Meditate/pray….ask….”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
-Ask your ego to check out. Know like you know like you know that you are worthy and capable of sooooo much more.
What made me smile yesterday……
-A lazy relaxing morning. Lots done but at a steady pace.
-Alex called on the phone. We got to hear her voice. Oh….how we miss that.
-It wanted to snow but quit as I headed to Stillwater. Roads were great.
-Great calls with both Jackie and Cathy.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris
