Don’t Rain on My Parade

Songwriters
MERRILL, BOB/STYNE, JULE

Don’t tell me not to live, just sit and putter
Life’s candy and the sun’s a ball of butter
Don’t bring around a cloud to rain on my parade
Don’t tell me not to fly, I’ve simply got to
If someone takes a, spill it’s me and not you
Who told you you’re allowed to rain on my parade

I’ll march my band out, I’ll beat my drum
And if I’m fanned out, your turn at bat, sir
At least I didn’t fake it hat, sir
I guess, I didn’t make it but whether
I’m the rose of sheer perfection
Or freckle on the nose of life’s complexion
The cinder or the shiny apple of its eye

I gotta fly once, I gotta try once
Only can die once, right, sir?
Ooh, life is juicy, juicy and you’ll see
I’m gonna have my bite, sir
Get ready for me, love ’cause I’m a comer
I simply gotta march, my heart’s a drummer
Don’t bring around a cloud to rain on my parade

I’m gonna live and live now
Get what I want, I know how
One roll for the whole she-bang
One throw, that bell will go clang
Eye on the target and wham
One shot, one gun shot, and bam
Hey, Mister Arnstein, here I am

I’ll march my band out, I will beat my drum
And if I’m fanned out, your turn at bat, sir
At least I didn’t fake it, hat, sir
Guess I didn’t make it
Get ready for me, love ’cause I’m a comer
I simply gotta march, my heart’s a drummer
No,nobody, no, nobody, is ever gonna rain on my parade

For your consideration……

The message today is “no stealing” love, joy, or HOPE. Don’t let anyone steal yours and don’t steal theirs.

What good is all of this hard work we do to get ourselves in a balanced state of joy, ready to conquer our life purpose if we are going to allow someone to steal it? Likewise, it can be irritating as all get out to be grumpy, sad or miserable while being in the presence of someone who is blissful and joyous.

We know that like energies attract and opposites repel so we can understand the irritation. However, there are no coincidences and everything is in Divine Order and Divine Timing. So we must ask ourselves why we are sharing a moment with someone who is trying to rain on our parade. We’re asked to consider that the Universe is giving us an opportunity to help bring balance and order. We are not asked to let someone suck away our joy. Instead we are asked to share it. Likewise, we are asked to consider letting go of what is irritating or hurting us and let in the joyous energy that has been brought to us.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take……

-Meditate/pray….ask….”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take at least 10 deep breaths. Share Mother Natures’ joy.

-Don’t let anyone rain on your parade. Be joyous.

What made me smile yesterday……

-Having Jody here with us.

-My Alex is just a hoot even when she is not trying to be.

-The farm stand. I love this time of year.

-My Peanut’s joy.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
