Grab Your Memory Bag and “Vaca”
For your consideration…..
Oh, why do I doubt? We have been given a little task today. And while it seems so clear to me now, I really questioned that this was the message. When I finally just gave in and said OK, I got a phone call from dear friends, Sandy and Jul. They are on a vacation. As I mentioned to Jul, I was glad she decided to do this trip, she responded, “Yeah, I needed to get out and give my mind a break.” So today is about taking a “mind vacation”.
We are being asked to find some quiet time for ourselves. Carve out some time in a place where you will not be interrupted. Get comfortable. Relax and get quiet, relax your breathing. Tap into your memories. Go back to your earliest ones. Start turning the pages. What you are looking for are your “happiest” memories. As you identify them, note them, jot a word or two down if you need to. Then settle back in and start turning the pages again.
When you are done “turning the pages”, still in your quiet space, look at those flagged memories. What were your happiest moments? When were you the happiest? Why?
There is a reason for this exercise. We are being asked to hit the “reset” button on our lives. When we identify those moments and things where we were our happiest, we are to reset to those feelings. Those feelings are our “benchmark” for where we want our lives to go.
Knowing this allows us to make better choices. We can knock some things off our plate as things that just do not fit into our plan. We can make better choices on what we put on it. We have reset and our benchmark is what makes us happy because we know that is a true indicator that we are on the correct path to our life purpose.
We are being told that there is NO shortage on peace and happiness only people to grab them. We have been given a tool today to help us be those people who grab them. Do it. That is our HOPE.
Memories
(words & music by Bill Strange – Scott Davis)
Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories, sweetened through the ages just like wine
Quiet thoughts come floating down
And settle softly to the ground
Like golden autumn leaves around my feet
I touched them and they burst apart with sweet memories,
Sweet memories
Of holding hands and red bouquets
And twilights trimmed in purple haze
And laughing eyes and simple ways
And quiet nights and gentle days with you
Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories, sweetened through the ages just like wine,
Memories, memories,
Of holding hands and red bouquets
And twilights trimmed in purple haze
And laughing eyes and simple ways
And quiet nights and gentle days with you
Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories, sweetened through the ages just like wine
Memories, memories, sweet memories, memories…
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take……
-Meditate….pray…..find your calm.
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
-Relax, laugh, have some fun. Celebrate you.
-Journal what made you smile today. What are you grateful for?
What made me smile yesterday…..
-Beautiful sunshine.
-Ice is not my friend. Down I went. Why smile? Hey, I have a sore bruised arm. I didn’t break my back like last time. I am still resilient.
-Peanut’s swim meet. She is just awesome.
-I good night’s sleep.
P.S. Happy Birthday, dear daughter, Shannon. Certainly you are part of my happiest memories. You are simply awesome and I could not love you more.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Chris
