For your consideration…

Today’s message is about uniqueness. I love the above quote, by Janice B. Gordon and it can serve us well to remember it. However, it is not exactly what today’s message is about.

We are given an idea, a task, a tool for dealing with people. We all run into people who irritate us, we don’t agree with, they rub us the wrong way…in general, we just don’t like them. Perhaps, the only thing we have in common with them is our humanness. But that is ok. We don’t have to like someone to recognize their value…and everyone does have value.

Today we are given a little exercise to use when we find ourselves in situations with people we don’t like. Rather than focus on why we don’t like them or how they are rubbing us the wrong way, instead, focus on their uniqueness. Focus on their value. They are in our moment for a reason if for none other than to highlight the contrast between what we do like and what we do have to be grateful for. Rather than get mad, notice and focus on their uniqueness.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Celebrate uniqueness.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-Having Alex, James, and Conner with me.

-Catching up with Jackie.

-A good book.

-James’ BBQ.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
