For your consideration…

As I got the message “zip-a-dee-doo-dah,” I am sure we have had it before. I am not sure what the message that went with it was but I am pretty sure today’s is different because our friend, Bob, was used as the example.

Bob is a friend of ours. He is a character but is always good to Bruce and me. I have often heard him say, “Well, zip-a-dee-doo-dah.” It brings a chuckle. It lightens the energy of the situation.

And that is the point of today’s message. We don’t always have to be confrontational ie; to settle a situation, stand up for ourselves, diffuse a disagreement or escalation, etc. Sometimes we can just have a phrase like “zip-a-dee-doo-dah” that can change up the energy.

My husband, Bruce, tends to be negative. I know, right? It makes being positive and HOPEful difficult sometimes. But he has always been like this and doesn’t necessarily realize his impact on the energy around him. Actually, he doesn’t give it any thought at all. So when it gets to be too much my daughter, Alex, and I have this saying we do in a sing-song voice…”Doom and gloom.” It is hard to believe what a difference it makes without having an argument or anyone getting angry. Those three little words let him know that “Heh, you’re bringing us down. Stop it.”

We have a choice. We always have a choice. We can decide how to effectively keep the positive energy flowing….zip-a-dee-doo-dah.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Certainly, that might be, choosing “zip-a-dee-doo-dah.”

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Drink lots of water.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Bruce’s caregiver, Lisa.

-Sunshine.

-Getting out with Julie and Vickie. We sat outside in an “igloo” in the sunshine and were warm as toast. For sure my spirit was filled with joy.

-Catching up with both my girls.

-A good book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
