For your consideration…

We receive many messages about personal responsibility, love, respecting one another, life purpose, etc. The last couple of days we have had messages about looking for “picking your battles and looking for goodness and light.”

We have to love and respect ourselves to love and respect others. Consequently, we can always learn a lot about someone based on their treatment of others.Today, as we mourn and honor Colin Powell, it is worth a look at his 13 rules for leadership. Some might say they are good rules for life. We can look within them and see the man. We can see the love of self and others. We can see a path to achieving that. We can see a path to personal responsibility and fulfillment of life purpose, full of purpose,

Colin Powell’s 13 Rules:

  1.  It ain’t as bad as you think. It will look better in the morning.
  2. Get mad, then get over it.
  3. Avoid having your ego so close to your position that when your position falls, your ego goes with it.
  4. It can be done!
  5. Be careful what you choose. You may get it.
  6. Don’t let adverse facts stand in the way of a good decision.
  7. You can’t make someone else’s choices. You shouldn’t let someone else make yours.
  8. Check small things.
  9. Share credit.
  10. Remain calm. Be kind.
  11. Have a vision. Be demanding.
  12. Don’t take counsel of your fears or naysayers.
  13. Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier.

Personally, on a side note, I find that he has 13 rules interesting. I was drawn to look at the “birth” significance of them. Stability and process, creativity and confidence, expression and sensitivity is the life purpose of those with 13/4…in this case General Powell’s Rules for Leadership. Hmmm…seems fitting.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Love yourself and others.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-Jordan had a great baby shower.

-Having Alex and Conner here.

-Catching up with Dianne.

-Finally a good night’s sleep. Not sure what has been going on. I usually sleep like the dead but have had a couple nights struggling. I have a whole new respect and sympathy for those who struggle with insomnia.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
