For your consideration…

Today’s message is fun. It is about traditions and myths. Between Halloween tomorrow, Thanksgiving next month, Christmas shortly following and then the New Year, there are traditions and myths galore. Some are cultural, some family, some old, some new ones, some we don’t even know where they came from.

Let’s be honest. Some traditions we love and some we don’t. That’s what today’s message is about. Halloween is a great example. Some people love everything about it. They love the dressing up. They love the creepy scary part of it. They love seeing the little trick or treaters. Some don’t want to participate at all. Some are scared of it etc. etc. etc.

Look, we are told, think about why you feel the way you do. If you are happy with YOUR traditions, keep them. If you aren’t, change them or simply just don’t do them. Just because it is a tradition does not mean you have to do it.

On the other hand there are traditions that bring wonderful memories and feelings. Keeping them going and passing them down brings us joy and comfort. So we should do them….for that reason.

Our message is simply this. Look at and think about the traditions and myths that are in your life. Keep the ones that make sense and brings you contentment and joy. Get rid of the ones that don’t make sense, cause you stress and you simply don’t believe in.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece, by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Think about your myths and traditions.

What made me smile yesterday…

-My sweet little ones…well mostly smiles.

-Catching up with Jackie.

-I thought I was going to be really late for a cooking class. I almost didn’t go. But suddenly the traffic accident cleared and I was only 5 minutes late.

-The “hand pie” cooking class at Sister Pie was fabulous. I learned so much.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
