When You Say Nothing At All”

Written by Don Schlitz, Paul Overstreet

It’s amazing how you can speak right to my heart

Without saying a word you can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don’t say a thing

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There’s a truth in your eyes sayin’ you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all

All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd
Old Mr. Webster could never define
What’s being said between your heart and mine

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There’s a truth in your eyes sayin’ you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There’s a truth in your eyes sayin’ you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all

For your consideration….
Our message today comes via this song. This love song talks about the power of silence.
Silence is a tool we have in our life tool box. We all have it. We don’t always choose to use it. It is a choice. We always have a choice.
We can convey much in silence. We can let our presence speak for itself. We can convey love or hate. We can convey joy or sadness. The point is we don’t always have to use words and sometimes it is better to be silent. Sometimes it is better to be silent and wait for clarity. Sometimes silence is a better strategy versus stir up controversy which serves no meaningful purpose. We do not have to express our opinion on everything.
Our message today reminds us that we all have the tool of silence and sometimes it is the best tool to use.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….
-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
-Use silence when appropriate.
What made me smile yesterday….
-A productive kitchen day.
-Shopping done.
-A fun night with friends.
-Hearing from Alex.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris
