For your consideration…..
Is this a little harsh? Maybe. But how we handle regret, is a good measure of how we are doing living to our soul’s potential. It is a clue.
All of us have wished we could have do-overs or the benefit of hind-sight. We have all said that. But time has a way of bringing clarity. Given enough time, when we look back we can see the benefit or lesson in virtually every regret we have ever had. The question is did we grow from it? Did we learn the lesson? Do we see the benefit?
I can give you a big example in my own life. My step-father was not a good man. I knew it the minute my mother opened up the front door to go on a blind date with him. I will never forget that moment. No one would listen to me at the time. I was 7, had never met the man before and could not explain “gut intuition”. To this day, I know when I get that feeling, I am right and I need to heed it. That is a lesson in itself. But what about hind-sight and the benefit of time? If I could, would I change that moment? No. Because I have a great, I mean great, sister and brother that I would not have if I had been able to change that moment. Additionally, I became a survivor. I gained life skills as a child that have served me for life.
We all have regrets. But when we do, we need to remember the “no judgement tool” in our life tool box. See the situation for what it is. Act accordingly. Let it go. If there are consequences, we can deal with them. It’s true, life is a series of moments and this is just a bump in the road. Hard as it is to believe right now, there is a lesson or benefit for us. And we may, probably will, laugh at at least part of it, some time down the road. That is the HOPE.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, hope by hope action steps anyone can take….
-Meditate
-Get out-of-doors and take some deep breaths.
-Play. Soak up some sun.
-Pat yourself on the back.
What made me smile yesterday…..
-Talk about blips on the life radar screen. Jackie and I were rolling in laughter at one of her life dramas years ago. We love you, Rosie.
-Then we moved on to Loretta. We always have Loretta stories to make us laugh. I am smiling right now just writing her name.
-Alex sounding joyous mostly. Hmmm, I wonder what will become of the landlord drama. She’s a smart little bippy. I am sure she’ll figure out what’s fair. She understands karma.

I’ve observed that in the world today, video games would be the latest phenomenon with children of all ages. Periodically it may be difficult to drag the kids away from the games.
