For your consideration….

I hardly ever know the what, why or where each message comes from. They are random daily. But today is an exception. I know the roots of this message. At least I know where it started.

It started a couple of nights ago at my Women Standing in Their Power meeting. While I can not remember the details of why it came up, there was discussion around being “Positive”. As you can imagine, I am the author of Hopes Rising, my perspective is staying “Positive” is essential. But the discussion was centered around whether “Positivity” is overused. The point being that anger, outrage, disappointment, grief etc., serves a purpose in the natural state of the healing process.

We all have those feelings at some time or another. The key is to not let them become what damages or defines you. Success and healing come when we say “No” and take “Positive” action to stand up to the person, event or thing that has created those ugly feelings that are eating away at us. Then “No” is not a negative. It is a “Positive”. “No” becomes the living, breathing, driving energy that creates the change.

Throughout history we have had daily examples of this. Indeed it was the feelings of outrage and injustice that birthed the “No” that created the United States of America. Everyday survivors of domestic violence stand up and say, “enough, no more”. That “No” creates the energy to break the cycle and create the space for a safer, better life. The example we had the other night was when the women of Uganda stood up together demanding the warring factions of their country negotiate a way to peace.

When we use “No” to stand up for a truth we hold in our body, mind and spirit, it is “Positive”. No doubt about it. “No” has tremendous power when used to unleash energy for the common good of humanity… or many. That is the HOPE for our world.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, hope by hope action steps anyone can take…..

-Meditate. Do you have something you want to change or something you want to know. Create an affirmation or question and hold it during your mediation.

-Drink lots of water.

-I HOPE it is sunny and great where you are and you can get out and enjoy it. But if you are anywhere near where I live, take at least 10 deep breaths outdoors from you porch.

-Consider righting a wrong that has weighed on you.


What made me smile yesterday…..

-Great 6th graders. They are always happy when they have a half day. We know how that is.

-I was very productive and got a lot of cards made.

-Alex had a great flight. I knew it would be. Today’s will be great as well.

-My neighbor and I had an unexpected lunch date. Those are the best kinds. It was great.
