If I Could
If I could
I’d protect you from the sadness in your eyes
Give you courage in a world of compromise
Yes, I would
If I could
I would teach you all the things I’ve never learned
And I’d help you cross the bridges that I’ve burned
Yes, I would
If I could
I would try to shield your innocence from time
But the part of life I gave you isn’t mine
I’ve watched you grow
So I could let you go
If I could
I would help you make it through the hungry years
But I know that I can never cry your tears
But I would
If I could
If I live
In a time and place where you don’t want to be
You don’t have to walk along this road with me
My yesterday
Won’t have to be your way
If I knew
I’d have tried to change the world I brought to you to
And there isn’t very much that I can do
But I would
If I could
If I could
I would try to shield your innocence from time
But the part of life I gave you isn’t mine
I’ve watched you grow
So I could let you go
If, if I could
I would help you make it through those hungry years
But I know that I can never cry your tears
But I would
If I could
Yes I would
Yes I would
If I could

For your consideration….
The words of this song reflect the “if I coulds” from their perspective. Of course, many of us have some or all of the same ones. It eloquently states the desire to carry another’s burdens. Perhaps, we would want to cure disease, create lasting peace, make the world a more happy place, eliminate sadness. Whatever our “if I coulds” are, if they come from our authentic self, they are valid and heard and our job is to do whatever “piece or part” we can towards that goal.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…
-Affirm…“I am loved.”
-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
What made me smile yesterday…
-A good day to stay in and bake.
-Fun videos from Alex’s trip.
-Funny texts with my granddaughter, Mackenzie.
-Birthday shopping for February done.
-A relaxing night with my woman’s circle.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris
