For your consideration…

As we grow we build. We collect. First it is usually for survival. Then it is for ourselves. Finally we turn our focus on what we will leave behind…our legacy.

It was sort of a family joke on my husband’s side. As soon as you said you liked something, his mother would say, “I’ll put your name on it.” Later, my own mother started doing the same. When my youngest daughter, graduated from the United States Naval Academy, I told her to take whatever she wanted from out home whether we used it or not. I had a favorite table that I used in various homes for various purposes. My oldest daughter always loved it as well. When she said that she was looking for something similar to it for her family room, I said take it. I gave her the lamp that was perfect for it as well.

We want to leave to those we care about possessions that were important to us. Our message today tells us that this is a natural progression. But…there is always a but…we are reminded what is really important. What is important is the legacy of the essence of the person. What does that possession call to mind about the giver? How are we described? What is the first feeling people have when they think about us? That is our true legacy. That is what our focus needs to be on when building and growing our lives.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Remember what is important about your legacy.

What made me smile yesterday….

-Hearing excitement from my sister.

-A fun day of cooking.

-Having the DKG ladies over for dinner and our executive board meeting. Fun. Teachers are so easy to host.

-Catching up with Alex.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
