“Lean On Me”
by Bill Withers

Sometimes in our lives
We all have pain, we all have sorrow.
But if we are wise,
We know that there’s always tomorrow.

Lean on me when you’re not strong
I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need somebody to lean on.

Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you won’t let show.

You just call on me, brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on.
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand,
We all need somebody to lean on.

Lean on me when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need somebody to lean on

You just call on me, brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on.
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand,
We all need somebody to lean on.

If there is a load
You have to bear
That you can’t carry
I’m right up the road
I’ll share your load
If you just call me.

Call me if you need a friend
Call me, call me, uh-huh
Call me when you need a friend
Call me if you ever need a friend

For your consideration…
We need each other. It is as plain and simple as that. Yet we forget. We let our pride smother our voice and keep our hands and hearts from reaching out. We want to appear stronger than we are because we forget that we are stronger together. We forget that when our authentic self reaches out it is in fact the gift of opportunity for the receiver. It is a gift when we open ourselves and trust another. Trust is a gift that can not be bought. Help can be bought but offering our trust to someone to help out of the love and goodness of their own authentic self can not.
Leaning on someone or allowing them to lean on you is are reciprocal gifts.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…
-Affirm…“I am loved.”
-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
What made me smile yesterday….
-Mindfulness class with friends.
-Lunch with Sue, Vickie and Sarah.
-PT and shopping.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris
