“Crochet” by Koko

For your consideration…

Everyday I try to find the very best photo for the message. One day, probably long ago, I saved this one under “love self.” I have no idea if that is what the artist intended it to be or not. Nor do I know if the artwork for this crocheted piece was by Koko. What I do know is why I picked it for today’s message.

I picked it because to me this woman has found herself. She is unique and comfortable with it. She has found her “place.” She see the world as she thinks it should be. She is spinning and working to perpetuate a beautiful place.

So much of what we see and react to in the world is automatic. We don’t give much thought to it. Sometimes our reaction is solicited or coached. Our reactions are often patterns we have established.

Our message today tells us to be mindful of our reactions. If we react the same old way or get sucked into the reactions of others, we perpetuate more of the same. But if we truly want to change the world, then we have to choose different responses. We have to take the higher ground. We have to rise above judgment and see what is real. The only thing that is real is love. If we are not seeing and feeling the love and all of its beautiful possibilities, then we are not taking the higher ground.

When we choose to be present in love, we can see the contentment, beauty and possibilities that surround us. We can let it change us and in turn, us change the world.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Should I be embarrassed to say that it was an all day PJ day?

-A good book.

-Catching up on taped TV shows that I meant to watch over the summer but have not gotten around to.

-We have a date when we will see our Alex again. That is always exciting.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
