Lean On Me
Bill Withers
Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there’s always tomorrow
Lean on me, when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need
Somebody to lean on
Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you won’t let show
You just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on
Lean on me, when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need
Somebody to lean on
You just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on
If there is a load you have to bear
That you can’t carry
I’m right up the road
I’ll share your load
If you just call me (call me)
If you need a friend (call me) call me uh huh(call me) if you need a friend (call me)…
For your consideration….
This song says it all but let me add a couple comments.
It is summer with lots of reunions and get-togethers. The timing of this song for today’s message is no perfect and no coincidence.
We are asked to notice those who surround us. If they asked you for support; a shoulder to lean on, a listening ear or helping hand, would you not feel privileged? Would you not jump at the opportunity? Now consider, wouldn’t the same be in reversed?
If you are blessed with family and friends, let them be there for you.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….
-Affirm…“I am loved.”
-Meditate/ pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
-Lean on me.  I am but a private Facebook message away.
What made me smile yesterday…

-Lunch with my great friend, Dianne.

-A great trip to Annapolis.
-Seeing familiar sights and dinner on the water with Shannon and my Peanut, Mac.
-We’re at the Historic Inn and it is absolutely lovely.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris
