For your consideration…

I certainly can be dense sometimes. This has been on my mind all day. In meditation and out of meditation. I kept putting it aside because I thought it was a continuing reflection on a conversation I had with my friend, Camille, last night. I had been discussing some disappointment and admittedly anger over a situation that had happened in my life. She reminded me that our attitudes on people and situations are a reflection of ourselves.

So today’s message is definitely for me but I think for others as well. Today it comes in as a message about anger and disappointment. Why exactly are they reflected to us? Why are we angry? Why can’t we let it go?

Often we get angry when we are disappointed and can’t let it go because we are angry. It is a vicious cycle. If we want it to end, then we have to look in that mirror and ask some tough questions.

Today we are asked to consider that these disappointments are pivot points. They are interruptions to introduce change and just because we are not the ones introducing the change does not mean we can avoid it. If it is here, then we must find a positive and productive way to deal with it. Being sad and miserable hurts us more than anyone else.

As I write this I am hearing some sound advice from these Jimmy Buffet lyrics;

It’s those changes in latitudes,
changes in attitudes nothing remains quite the same.
With all of our running and all of our cunning,
If we couldn’t laugh, we would all go insane.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Embrace the pivot points with humor.

What made me smile yesterday….

-A great afternoon with 7th graders.

-A surprise call from Camille resulting in a late lunch, great conversation and a movie.

-A surprise call from Yvette. We picked her up for the movie.

-We saw “The Book Club.” It is a laugh out loud funny movie.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
