For your consideration…

My paternal grandmother, Estelle Burke, was Polish. Holy week was sacred to her and watching her follow tradition was enlightening and inspiring. She worked all week so that Easter was a day of rest. She traveled to Detroit to have her food blessed and then prepared it all in advance. The many dishes she prepared were ones that were served cold or at room temperatures. The exception was mashed potatoes and gravy which she had prepared in advance and only had to heated up. The atmosphere Easter Sunday bore the fruits of her labor. It was very relaxed, because she was relaxed. There was no hustle and bustle because the work was already done. It was a day that was simply about honoring God, family, friends and blessings.

Our message today reminds us that we all need time to rest and if we do not have a time carved out for ourselves then we need to prepare early so that we can have that time. Time to completely relax is vital to our health, well-being and growth.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Prepare in advance so that we can relax later.

What made me smile yesterday….

-Some tasks done.

-A great Skype call with Leah about my book, And On and On and ON.

-Catching up with my Sis, Lori.

-Hmmm, maybe cooking two separate dinners isn’t so hard. I have got to master this if I want to stay on track.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
