For your consideration….

Want versus need. This seems to be a common theme. Lately, it seems to come across my path; at school, in conversation, on TV etc. So I am not surprised it comes in today as our message.

There are all kinds of things that can go on a want versus need list. Today we are asked to specifically make our list about “Being Me.”

We are asked to consider What we need to be versus What we want to be. If we really consider the different roles we have in our life, we may find that they change over time. What was once a want could now be a need or visa-versa. When we have our list of what we need to be, we can then move on identifying what the best version of “me” in that role looks like.

Examples:

I need to be the best parent I can be. Therefore, I need to be a good listener, cheerleader, show unconditional love, be a fierce protector etc.

I need to be a writer. Therefore, I need to be dedicated, honest, proactive, researcher etc.

Just because we identify our needs to be does not mean we have to give up on our wants to be. We can still do the same thing with them.

However, we now have a clear priority list. We now can see where we need to maximize our efforts. We have a clear vision. Besides, when we put in the work on being the best we can be, it spills over into every part of our lives.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…..

-Affirm….I am loved. Say it every day as many times as needed.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths

-No the needs versus wants to being the best ME.

What made me smile yesterday…..

-A beautiful sunny day. shopping through the village.

-Drinks around outdoor heaters soaking in the fresh air.

-Family dinner at a Japanese steakhouse.

-Alex is my hero. I forgot my purse and she ran back and rescued it.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
