For your consideration….

I have two daughters 16 years apart in ages. While I was obviously much younger raising Shannon than I was Alex, my parenting philosophy was the same. I felt it was important to make sure they had a good foundation, a good education, so that they always had the ways and means and determination to problem solve and be able to support themselves. So I would say this to them, “There is only one road you are going down. Now, you may choose any path you want off of that road. But this is the road we are following.”

Sound tough? Yeah, but I never wanted there to be any doubts on the expectations. God willing most of us will outlive our children. We will not be here to take care of them. They must be able to take care of themselves and it is a parent’s job to make sure they are on the path to do so. Like any parents we did not pick the profession the girls chose. In Alex’s case, Dad was dead set against it. He is a proud Dad now but it was tough swallowing his words when she was making her choice.

I share this because story because we have had many messages before about going with the flow. We are asked to notice how when we are doing the right thing, following our dreams etc. then our path seems to go smoothly. When we are struggling we are asked, to notice what is holding us up. For some reason we are going against the current and our path is blocked to make us pause and learn a lesson.

Today’s message is the same but different. When it seems we are going against the current, when we are no flowing along smoothly, we are asked to consider if we are following our path, our dreams. We are asked to pause and examine and ask questions. Did I choose this path? Do I feel it is the right path for me? Am I following my dreams? Am I meeting my own expectations? Am I using my own power?

Self-evaluation, is a tool we have in our life tool box. Only we have the power to use it. We are asked today to take it out and use it every now and then especially when we feel we are going against the flow.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….

-Meditate/pray…ask….”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?’

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Remember to use your life tool box.

What made me smile yesterday…..

-A beautiful day.

-Yesterday was out last day watching our class pet, the praying mantis. How fun he has been.

-I thought our hummingbirds were gone for the winter but I saw a couple again.

-AJ’s soccer game. He is awesome.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
