Do You Hear What I Hear?

Said the night wind to the little lamb,
do you see what I see
Way up in the sky, little lamb,
do you see what I see
A star, a star, dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite
With a tail as big as a kite

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy,
do you hear what I hear
Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy,
do you hear what I hear
A song, a song, high above the trees
With a voice as big as the sea
With a voice as big as the sea

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king,
do you know what I know
In your palace warm, mighty king,
do you know what I know
A Child, a Child shivers in the cold
Let us bring Him silver and gold
Let us bring Him silver and gold
Said the king to the people everywhere,
listen to what I say
Pray for peace, people everywhere!
listen to what I say
The Child, the Child, sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light
He will bring us goodness and light

For your consideration….
I know, isn’t it crazy; A Christmas carol for a message in August?
But maybe that is the point. The messages and reminders we celebrate at Christmas are meant to be celebrated all year-long.
Today’s message draws our attention to the lines in the song, “Do you hear what I hear?” We would not think that the night wind, lamb, shepherd boy and mighty king
have much in common. Yet they do; the night wind, the stars, the song, the sea are all things they share. In the song they find their common ground and the mighty king tells people everywhere that there is more if we choose it….peace, goodness and light brought to us via a small little baby.
So what is different today, August 17, 2017? Don’t we still have all of these same things in common? Don’t we all still want peace, light and love? We can have those things when we focus on our common ground.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can’t take….
-Meditate/pray…Ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?….
-…our common ground.
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
What made me smile yesterday….
-Lunch with the long time girl friends; Ginger, Debbie, Jody, Jul and Vickie.
-Laughter.
-A short morning rain.
-A chill evening followed by a good night’s sleep.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris
