For your consideration…

I always love reminders to be our authentic self. Today’s message is a little different. It compares being authentic with being perfect.

We seek perfection. We want to be the best we can be. That is a good thing until it isn’t. It is no longer a good when it controls us. It is no longer good when it stresses us out.

We have all been to events; corporate, work, charity or family and friends homes where the hostess/or event coordinator are so stressed out that the event takes on this stress. We feel the tension. We may feel sympathetic. Maybe we have been at a friend or family event and urged the hostess to sit down. Perhaps the dinner did not turn out as was supposed. To most guest this would be a “so what.” They are their for the camaraderie and love not the menu. Many cookbooks offer suggestions on how to make entertaining less stressful. Before holidays many magazines will have helpful hints even going so far as a suggested time line. Some recipes will tell you what you can do “ahead” of time. To warrant all of this advice tells us that many people have a fear of not being perfect or having their event perfect.

Our message today using these examples because they are easy for us to relate to. We are asked to recognize this fear of not being perfect. Our message today tells us that authenticity beats perfection every time because; “True perfection is being our authentic self.”

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Be your authentic self. You are the only one who can be you.

What made me smile yesterday….

-Another beautiful day.

-I love watching the hummingbirds. They love the new feeder I got in Lexington.

-Jody came for her yearly visit. Very fun and exciting for me.

-Hearing from Alex. Her and James safely arrived home from their family vacation and then traveled to Fallon the next day. Whew. My girls are never to old that I don’t want to know when they arrive at their travel destinations.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
