For your consideration….

Today’s message feels very light-hearted. It is a phrase we have all heard before, “Variety is the spice of life.

It is easy, sometimes comforting, certainly convenient to fall into patterns and routines. When people ask us what is going on or we ask them, we get “nothing new,” same-o same-o or not much etc. If we are using those words, consider it a wake-up call.

There is no reason for us to be bored. It is a choice. We don’t need money or a lot of resources to add variety and spice to our lives. All we need is to open our eyes, ears and heart. Each and every day offers us an opportunity to for new things, ideas and people.

Switch things up. Go to the movies in the middle of the week instead of waiting for the weekend. Try a new recipe or go to a new restaurant. Speak to a stranger. Take another route to wherever you are going or walk a different one. Volunteer. Read a different genre. Call a long-lost friend or make a new one. Clean out and reorganize a closet or cupboard. Go to new places. Do more or do less. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Adding variety to spice up our lives does not take money. It takes us making a choice. We always have a choice.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Try something new.

What made me smile yesterday…..

-A fun school day. I  unexpectedly was needed to work in the media center for part of the day. I love books. I love being around books. I love seeing what the kiddos are reading.

-A new recipe.

-Talk about changing things up. My Alex never is always looking for new things and places.

-Students writing poetry.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
