“Land of Our Fathers”

For your consideration….

We don’t usually get messages related to the holiday we are celebrating. I try to tie something in but normally the heart of the message is not about the holiday. Today is different. The message specifically calls our attention to Father’s Day and uses our relationship with our fathers as an analogy.

We learn from our fathers. Together with mothers they are our first teachers. They give us our foundation upon which we build until we can learn from other teachers,  people, events in our life.

In our life’s journey, we have to “figure” it out. We have to figure out how to do things, who people really are, create and invent things, what is important and what isn’t etc. The list can go on and on. Our message today reminds us that we don’t have to reinvent the wheel. There are people and things already in place that we can learn from. We are not an island unto ourselves. How we learn our lessons includes learning from others.

Can you imagine where the world would be if every person had to figure out life completely on their own? It would be like computers were when the operating system had to be loaded before any task could be performed. It was a redundant and time-consuming effort.

Conversely, while we are learners, we are also teachers. Those valuable lessons we learn can and should be passed onto others. Teaching and learning is never ending. The more you learn, the more you should teach.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths. Play outdoors.

-Teach and learn.

What made me smile yesterday….

-Waking up at Stillwater.

-A beautiful day.

-Talking with my sister and my brother both in one day.

-New twin nephews born healthy. Both are eating and breathing on their own despite being 2 months early.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
