For your consideration….

Recently I got a text message from an old friend for a reading for herself. In the content of her message she asked, “Why are so many women our age having such a hard time mentally and physically?” Throughout the next two days, that question keeps coming back to me. As I meditated before I did her reading, the answer came to me. I wrote it down. Then again this morning in meditation I could get no further than the same question and answer. It is today’s message.

United States women of the 1960’s had a rabble-rousing spirit burning in their heart. They fought hard and set off years of embattlement for equal rights for women. They highlighted women’s inequality and history will remember them for it. They created a platform, framework and organizations that could help both groups of and the individual women. Yet we still, in many ways, are battling the just cause.

Far too often equal rights for women simply substituted a man with a women. Nothing else changed. And the movement did not have a plan for the rest of the women like care-givers, women who wanted to stay home and raise their children, women who didn’t want to become CEO etc. The early women’s movement was not inclusive. You were on-board with everything including abortion or you were not a real part of it. While many women today, feel they can take their equal rights and stand for their own personal beliefs, their are few organizations that support them.

So we might think that is what is troubling for the 1960’s women and women of future generations. But that is not it. Instead it is the lack of the “what now?” It is the lack of a movement for all women to stand up and live in their own power.

Freedom…true freedom….is not stepping in another’s shoes, man’s or women’s. It is living and fighting for what lives in your spirit. It is leading from what you know to be right and true. Women need to stand up and lead from their own power and from the perspective they have for the world.

More importantly women need to honor women for who they are without making demands for them to fit into a paradigm. The goal is not to replace or belittle men. The goal is to stand up and walk with them with equal respect and responsibility. It is making sure that the women’s perspective is heard and given equal weight, considerations and inclusion in all things.

If a woman’s heart is unsettled, it is a call to pause and listen. It is a call to follow what you know is true. If that road is lonesome, so be it. But my sense is that there are many many women looking for her sisters. It is all good.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Stand up and do what your spirit is calling you to do.

What made me smile yesterday…..

-Some more cupboard rearranging.

-A little bit of reading.

-Some house organizing.

-A chill day for the most part.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
