For your consideration….

Probably most of us are familiar with Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. We may have even used it on this blog before. I am using it today because I think it is a perfect visual for our message.

Our message today is actually about gratitude. It is about considering what we are grateful for. Each day in the “What made me smile yesterday….” part of the blog, I attempt to show “little” things that I am grateful for……basic parts of my life such as a beautiful day, wonderful students, my girls or friends calling to catch up etc.

Today asks us to consider being even more basic than those examples. We are asked to consider the “physiological, safety and security needs” that bless our lives. Maybe we are not in our dream home. Maybe there are lots of things that need to be done to it but it keeps us sheltered. Maybe we don’t have exactly what we want to make for dinner or don’t want to cook period but if we have something to eat, it is all good.

Maybe we don’t like our job yet can we be grateful we have one? If we, along with our family and friends are safe, are we not blessed?

We are asked today to reflect and consider being grateful for our most basic blessings.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….

-Meditate/pray…if we don’t know, ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Reflect on gratitude.

What made me smile yesterday…..

-I had wonderful students…the nicest school day this year. When you see these student, it is easy to see HOPE for our future.

-Another beautiful day…perfect.

-Our daughter is safe and now off to visit her good friends in Boston.

-Joy. Leftovers are perfect.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
